On October 15, a major book launch will take place in Utrecht, entitled “Prussia at Crossroads: State, Society and Monarchy in Crisis.” Sir Christopher Clark (Cambridge), Susanne Bauer (BBAW), Jan Markert (Trier), and Frank Sterkenburgh (Utrecht) will present their new books on this topic. James Kennedy and Beatrice de Graaf (both Utrecht) will moderate and commentate.

Cultural Historian’s Toolbox: Oral History and Cultural Memory
Co-organized with Huizinga Institute for Cultural History. This hands-on, interactive course for PhD candidates (also open to RMA students) consists of three days, in Utrecht. Besides practicing with preparing, conducting and reflecting on an interview, we discuss key theoretical notions on working with oral sources. 20 and 27 February and 27 March 2026, Utrecht. Looking back at the PhD Career Day 2025
On 14 November the Research School Political History, together with Huizinga Institute, N.W. Posthumus Institute, and the Netherlands Research School for Medieval Studies, organized a careerday for PhD Candidates. This biennial event is organized to support PhD candidates in History in exploring career opportunities both within and beyond academia. Throughout the day, professionals from a wide range of sectors, including publishing, government and policy, intelligence, NGOs, the private sector, and academia, shared their experiences and insights. We warmly thank all speakers and attendees for making this edition a success.
