The annual opening of the academic year of the RSPH takes place on 22 September 2023, Allard Pierson Museum, Amsterdam. Our recently appointed colleague Susie Protschky of the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam will focus on “global perspectives on political history”. After the keynote, dr. René Koekkoek will interview prof. dr. Susie Protschky.
We are very honored with the commitment of a keynote on global perspectives on political history by our recently appointed colleague Susie Protschky of the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. As of 1 June 2023, Susie Protschky (Australia) is appointed professor of Global Political History at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam). Protschky’s research broadly focuses on colonial visual cultures, with a special interest in the global politics of photography. As a specialist in Dutch colonialism, her research ranges across histories of war and violence, environment and natural disaster, gender, race and concepts of modernity and citizenship.
The chair is part of the department of Art & Culture, History and Antiquity (Faculty of Humanities). Protschky succeeds Susan Legêne, currently dean of the faculty.
We look forward to welcoming everyone in the Netherlands, Flanders and abroad who matters in the political-historical field (sign up please: bureau@onderzoekschoolpolitiekegeschiedenis.nl).
