Call for Papers: Conference ‘Towards A Social History of European Integration’

The conference aims to offer a bottom-up perspective by looking at the historical development of public contestation, mobilisation, and participation in the history of European integration.

The conference invites papers based on new empirical research that contribute to the writing of a social history of European integration. The aim is to work towards a collective volume based on the conference proceedings. The conference organisers are Liesbeth van de Grift (Utrecht University), Brigitte Leucht (University of Portsmouth), Martin Conway (Oxford University) and Koen van Zon (Utrecht University).

The aim is to hold a conference in Utrecht on 18-19 October 2021 (arrival and dinner on Sunday 17 October). Should circumstances not allow this, we will move to an online platform. Abstracts (max 400 words) and a short CV must be submitted to Liesbeth van de Grift and Koen van Zon at l.vandegrift@uu.nl and k.j.a.vanzon@uu.nl by 15 March 2021. Participants will be notified in April 2021. Participants are expected to submit their papers two weeks in advance of the conference.
