This module focuses on one of the central analytical concepts in political history and invites participants to reflect on how the concept of power can be used in their own research.
The session will begin with a presentation by Prof. dr. Susie Protschky (VU Amsterdam), Professor of Global Political History. Drawing on her work on modern Dutch colonialism, Indonesian history, and the history of photography, she will discuss how she employs the concept of power in her research.
The presentation will be followed by an in-depth discussion in which PhD candidates reflect on how the concept of power functions in their own projects. Participants will prepare a short assignment in advance, which will serve as the basis for the discussion.
