Masterclass and seminar on relationship between Europe and US
April 25 @ 08:00 - 17:00
This is to remind you that you are all warmly invited to attend one or both events organized around the upcoming visit of dr. Karen Donfried to Utrecht University on 25 April. Karen Donfried is the President of the German Marshall Fund to the United States (GMFUS). Before assuming her role at the GMFUS, she was President Barack Obama’s principal advisor on Europe, and senior director for European affairs on the National Security Council (NSC) at the White House.
Karen Donfried’s visit will be hosted by the section for the History of International Relations. In cooperation with UGlobe and the Institutions for Open Societies (IOS) Platform on EU Policy and Politics, we have organized a masterclass for students, as well as an academic seminar on the past, present and future of the transatlantic partnership – in which we will also host prof. Giles Scott-Smith from Leiden University. Please click here for the masterclass, and here for the seminar. It would be wonderful if we could welcome several of you to these events.
If you are planning on taking part, please register in beforehand, or let Jorrit know by sending him an e-mail (J.Steehouder@uu.nl). We would also greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to forward this invitation to your students, especially those of you who teach topics relating to Europe and/or the United States, or even more broad topics about world affairs, the rise of China, etc.
All the best, also on behalf of Jorrit Steehouder,
