The Research School Political History is an active member of the Association for Political History (APH).

The APH aims to strengthen international cooperation in the field of education and research. The APH provides high-quality training opportunities for PhD candidates and advanced students pursuing Masters’ degrees in Political History.

An important activity of the APH is the organization of annual conferences and webinars. In 2022, the RSPH and APH organized the international conference Political History Today in Amsterdam. (the program is available here.)

Prof. Norbert Götz will organize a conference in Stockholm in 2024 and in 2025 we will meet in Münster (Germany). Prof. Jacco Pekelder will organize a conference with a focus on political history and international relations.

Board members have developed (EU) research applications as well as a book series for Palgrave Macmillan (http://www.palgrave.com/gp/series/15603). The first issue in the series has been published in 2017.

The (APH) has been created in September 2014 in Leiden for promoting Political History broadly defined as History of Institutions, Parties, Public policies, History of Ideas or Political Cultures and behaviors. The APH welcomes historians working from different perspectives.

President of the APH is prof. dr. Henk te Velde (Leiden University), vice president is prof. dr. Giovanni Orsina. The first president was Marc Lazar (SciencesPo. Paris). The APH’s Secretariat is headed by Dr. Margit van der Steen (Research School Political History, Amsterdam).
